Sessions and context
Work with Assumer sessions: switch and resume them, compact long conversations, undo changes, export or import sessions and keep the context focused.
Every conversation with Assumer is a session with its own history and changes.
Start, switch and resume
| Action | How |
|---|---|
| New session | /new |
| Switch session | /sessions |
| List from the shell | assumer session list |
| Export or import | assumer export / assumer import, or /export in the UI |
Keep the context focused
Long sessions fill the model’s context. Assumer compacts conversations automatically when they get long, and you can do it yourself at any time:
/compact
Compaction summarises earlier messages so the agent keeps the important decisions without the full transcript.
Other ways to keep context lean:
- Start a new session for an unrelated task.
- Let subagents do broad searches.
- Put stable project knowledge in a rules file instead of repeating it.
Undo and redo
/undo reverts the last change the agent made; /redo re-applies it. Review everything pending with /diff before you commit.
